The University at Buffalo conducted a study suggesting cannabis-infused drinks could significantly reduce alcohol consumption. Participants who switched to these beverages reported cutting their alcohol intake by nearly half.
A study by researchers at the University at Buffalo has found that cannabis-infused beverages can potentially help individuals reduce their alcohol consumption. The research published in the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs surveyed 438 adults who used cannabis in the past year. Those who consumed cannabis beverages reported halving their weekly alcohol intake, from an average of 7.02 to 3.35 drinks, and experienced fewer binge drinking episodes. The study suggests these beverages might serve as a harm reduction tool for those looking to decrease alcohol use. Nearly two-thirds of participants reported reducing or ceasing alcohol consumption after starting cannabis drinks.
