UK Snow Carver Achieves Second Place with Olympic Sculpture

Devon-based sculptor Pippa Unwin and her team captured second place at an Italian snow sculpting competition, part of the 2026 Winter Olympics cultural program. Unwin's 'ridiculously complicated' design portrayed five athletes breaking through Olympic Rings, featuring a skater, snowboarder, skier, slider, and curler. Completed within three days, the sculpture demonstrated the theme of fair play. Unwin, traditionally a stone sculptor, noted the similar techniques required for carving snow and stone. Despite challenges and weather issues, she expressed excitement over their success in a field of strong competitors.
