Two Soldiers Killed in Explosive Attack on Military Convoy in Northwest Pakistan

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Bannu district, near the Afghan border, a militant attack on a military convoy left two Pakistani soldiers dead, including a lieutenant colonel. The assailant used an explosive-loaded motorcycle in the attack, which the army says also killed five militants, one of whom was a suicide bomber. The Pakistani military prevented the attack from reaching civilians, describing the militants as 'khawarij', a term for banned groups like Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Islamabad has accused Kabul of harboring TTP militants, although this is denied by Afghanistan. Recent violent incidents in the region have intensified since the end of a ceasefire in 2022.
